Grange Wedding Barn Cheshire
Hi, I’m Jordan Fox, a professional wedding photographer based in Cheshire.
There is something undeniably special about New Year's Eve. It’s a time of anticipation, celebration, and new beginnings. When you combine that energy with a wedding day, you get magic. That is exactly what happened when Iona and Tommy invited me to capture their incredible celebration.
They chose a venue that perfectly suited the season and the vibe they wanted to create: Grange Wedding Barn. It was a day filled with laughter, candlelight, and a serious party atmosphere as everyone counted down to midnight. If you are considering a winter wedding or looking for that perfect rustic spot, here is a look at how this stunning day unfolded.
Grange Wedding Barn Cheshire
Finding the right venue is often the hardest part of wedding planning, but for Iona and Tommy, this choice was spot on. Grange Wedding Barn offers that wonderful mix of rustic charm and elegance that works so well for winter celebrations.
For this New Year’s Eve wedding, the barn was transformed into a cosy haven against the December chill. The couple embraced the season fully. We aren't talking about cliché Christmas decorations here; instead, they opted for sophisticated winter styling. The venue was glowing with candles and fairy lights, creating an intimate, warm atmosphere that felt like a giant hug as soon as you walked in.
The tablescapes were a particular highlight. They featured beautiful fir tree arrangements that brought the outside in, without the cold! It smelled incredible and looked even better. The bridesmaids wore stunning shades of gold and green, which complemented the natural, woody tones of the barn and the fir decorations perfectly.
A Celebration with Personality
One thing I love about being a photographer is seeing how couples put their stamp on the day. Iona and Tommy’s wedding was packed with personal touches that made it unique to them.
Guests were welcomed with espresso martinis—a sure-fire way to get the energy up right from the start! For favours, they treated everyone to fudge and whisky, which I’m sure was appreciated as the night went on. And let’s talk about the cake. Forget traditional fruit cake; they went for a tiramisu wedding cake. It was a brilliant choice that fit the indulgent, celebratory mood of New Year's Eve perfectly.
Half of the guest list had flown all the way over from Australia to be there. The dedication of friends and family travelling that far really added to the emotion of the day. You could feel just how happy everyone was to be in the same room, celebrating this couple.
Photographing in Winter: The Challenge and The Reward
As much as I love a summer sunset, a December wedding presents a different kind of challenge for a photographer. The days are short, and the light fades fast.
For this wedding, Iona and Tommy booked my micro wedding package, which gives 3 hours of coverage. This meant we had to be smart with our time. The ceremony took place by candlelight, which is incredibly romantic but technically demanding to shoot!
This is where experience kicks in. While I am known for my natural light work, being a professional means being ready for anything. I had my flash at the ready to ensure every moment was crisp and vibrant, even when the sun went down.
We embraced the dark, moody atmosphere. The result was a collection of images that felt warm, intimate, and true to the vibe of the evening. It wasn’t about fighting the darkness; it was about using light creatively to capture the joy in the room.
What the Couple Said
It is always nerve-wracking waiting for a couple to see their final gallery, but hearing back from Iona made it all worthwhile. Here is what she had to say:
"Jordan is an exceptional photographer and a pleasure to have with you on your wedding day. She made the two of us feel comfortable even though we are both not naturals in front of a camera! Jordan got some amazing shots of the guests in real moments that we will treasure. Thanks for your incredible work and beautiful reminders of the day."
Feedback like this is why I do what I do. My goal is always to be more than just a person with a camera; I want to be a calming presence that lets you enjoy your day while I handle the memories.
Why I Love Being a Relaxed Wedding Photographer in Cheshire
Weddings like this one remind me why I love my job. My style is very much about capturing the day as it happens. I focus on candid moments—the laughter during speeches, the tear in a parent's eye, the chaotic joy of the dance floor. If you’re curious how those authentic moments unfold, have a look at my guide to this behind-the-scenes look at getting ready on your wedding morning for a peek behind the scenes.
Whether you are looking for documentary wedding photographers in Cheshire, checking out wedding venues in Staffordshire and Cheshire, or want some practical tips like questions to ask a photographer for your wedding, the key is finding suppliers that match your vibe. If you want stiff, formal posing for hours on end, I’m probably not your girl. But if you want someone who will blend in, have a laugh with your guests, and hand you a gallery full of genuine emotion, we might be a great fit.
