Family Photographer Cotswolds
Cotswolds Family Photography
Hi, I’m Jordan Fox! A professional wedding photographer in the Cotswolds. Here’s a recent family photo session with a lovely couple who flew in from the US.
Why Choose a Family Photographer in the Cotswolds?
The Cotswolds, with its rolling hills and honey-coloured stone villages, is a place straight out of a storybook. It’s the perfect backdrop for capturing your family's story, and hiring a professional photographer here turns a simple day out into a collection of beautiful, lasting memories. While a phone snap is great for everyday use, a family photographer in the Cotswolds offers something more.
It’s about capturing the real, unscripted moments: the shared laughter, the quiet cuddles, and the playful chaos that make your family unique. We know the secret spots and the best light this stunning area has to offer, from hidden wildflower meadows to quiet woodland paths. Instead of one person always being behind the camera, everyone gets to be in the frame, together. It’s a chance to relax, connect, and let a professional create authentic, heartfelt images you'll treasure for years to come.
What to Expect from a Family Photography Session
So, what happens when we meet for your family photoshoot? First and foremost, you can expect it to be fun, relaxed, and incredibly easy. My goal is to capture the real you, and that can’t happen if you’re feeling stiff or awkward. That’s why my sessions are designed to feel more like a walk in the park than a formal photoshoot.
We’ll spend about one to two hours together, which is the perfect amount of time to get a wonderful variety of images without anyone getting tired or bored—especially the little ones! There’s absolutely no need to worry about knowing how to pose or what to do. I’ll gently guide you through the whole process, suggesting little prompts and activities that encourage natural interactions. Think less “say cheese!” and more tickle fights, walking hand-in-hand, and sharing secrets
Frequently Asked Questions About Family Photography in the cotswolds:
What should we wear for our family photos?
The most important thing is that you all feel comfortable. I usually suggest wearing complementary, neutral colours and avoiding large logos or very busy patterns. Think earthy tones, soft pastels, or classic denim. Layers are also fantastic as they add texture and can be easily removed. The goal is to look like yourselves, so don’t feel you need to go out and buy brand-new matching outfits! We want your connection to shine, not your clothes.
How can we prepare our children for the session?
The best way to prepare is to treat the session like a fun family outing. Let them know you're going to meet a friend who will take some pictures while you all play and explore together. Make sure they are well-rested and have had a snack beforehand. It’s also a good idea to bring some drinks and extra snacks along. Don't stress about them being perfectly behaved—letting them run around and be themselves is how we capture their true personalities.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day?
This is a common concern, especially in the UK! As a family photographer in the Cotswolds, I'm always keeping a close eye on the forecast. Overcast skies can actually be amazing for photos, creating soft, beautiful light. However, if heavy rain or strong winds are predicted, we can absolutely reschedule for a better day. Your comfort is a priority, and we’ll work together to find a new date that suits everyone.
How long will it take to receive our photos?
I know how excited you'll be to see your pictures! After our session, I carefully select and edit each image to make sure it looks perfect. You can expect to receive your full, beautifully edited online gallery within 3-4 weeks. I’ll send you a little sneak peek a few days after the shoot to tide you over while you wait
