Reasons To Have An Engagement Shoot

Recently engaged couples - listen up!

Whilst your wedding day is no doubt going to be one of (if not THE) best days of your life, the day you get engaged is so exciting!  Most couples start planning their wedding immediately after getting engaged - but this is an amazing time in your relationship, after all, your wedding isn’t your whole story as a couple is it?

I recommend an Engagement shoot to all of my couples!  Not just because I’m a wedding photographer but because there are just so many benefits to having one and here they are!

1:Get camera ready

The last thing you want is to be anxious about having your photo taken on a day where let’s face it, you will be photographed a lot!  Having an engagement shoot will help you lose any nerves you might have about being in front of the camera!  This means that by the time your wedding day comes around you will be comfortable being photographed and have wedding photos where you don’t feel awkward and look amazing!  As a wedding photographer, it is literally my job to get the couple to feel comfortable and look totally natural in front of my camera - you are in safe hands!

2:Use the photos for your wedding

How about using some of the photos from your engagement shoot as save the dates or for your wedding website? Put them up around your home and make your friends jealous on Instagram!

3: Celebrate your engagement in style

Obviously once you’re engaged you are hopefully so excited to marry your love that you want to do it as soon as possible!  By having an engagement shoot you really get to mark this special moment in your lives!  You have a lifetime to spend as a wife or husband that the engaged period seems to go so quickly you want to make it count!  What could be better than spending some time with your best friend without the pressure of worrying about your guests and if everything is going according to the timeline!

4: Get to know your photographer

Obviously, you love their work and you may have already met in the run-up to booking them- but having an engagement shoot helps to build trust with your wedding photographer!  You will be spending a lot of time with them on your wedding day so it’s super important that you click with each other!  Plus it’s nice to take things offline and connect in person - I’d love to find out more about you as a couple!

5: A good excuse to travel someplace amazing!

You can shoot your engagement photos in a spot that has meaning to you, maybe the place you met or went on your first date!  Or, if you want to do it big - why not book some last-minute tickets to Paris and have your engagement shoot in the most romantic city in the world (p.s I know some really good spots!)  If you are having a wedding in the countryside then why don’t we shoot your engagement photos in the city or at the beach?  You get to dress up and have fun with your fiancee and get some stunning photos out of it too!
